Scientificresearch should be carried out and controlled by governments rather thanprivate companies. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
范文:
Accordingto some people, governments should conduct the scientific researchinstead of private companies. I believe that research in areas thataffect national security and public safety should be conducted by thegovernment but research in other areas can be undertaken by private companies.
The mainreason to insist that some of the research areas should be strictly under thegovernments’ control is to prevent any malpractices. For instance,research related to nuclear weapons and atomic reactors should be under strictofficial vigilance and should be performed based on the agreed policies acrossthe globe in order to prevent any wrong doings. If this kind of research isprivatized, it is highly likely to land in the hands of wrong people and leadto serious problems between rival countries or even terrorist attack.Therefore, research in areas crucial to national security and global peaceshould be performed only by the authorities.
On theother hand, research in engineering, agriculture and medical science can beperformed by private entities. If only the governments can undertakeresearch in all areas we will not be able to achieve much development due toresource crunch. This is because governments have to spend their money in a lotof areas and their focus cannot be on research. Hence, rather than doing allthe research themselves, the government should actively promote theparticipation of private companies in research in areas that are not related tonational security. This is essential to boost innovation and development.
Inconclusion, the government should strictly control research concerning nationalsecurity. Private companies should be allowed and encouraged to performresearch in other areas. If only the government performs research, it willthrottle innovation.
1)我们在思考涉及政府的题目时,需要把自己在总统的位置去思考问题,眼界一定要非常宽,什么都要想到,因为运行一个国家各个方面都关心到才能让国家正常发展;
