Speculations about the sudden vanish of Anasazi Civilization
Reading
Pros: Wars
1. Anasazi ritual sites were burned down because of tribal invasions, and they were conquered.
2. Anasazi people were either slain or left so abruptly that their household items were not taken away.
3. Other tribes conveted Anasazi's rich land and abundant water, which might have led to more and severe tribal conflicts and their final fall.
Listening
Cons:
1. Burning down the ritual sites iteself is an important ritual for symbolizing their will to find new habitat locations;
2. They could only take items that are easily carried with, like water and food; and the left-over artifacts were arranged scattered on purpose but not the results of wars;
3.  Their rapid population growth made them vulnerable to water shortage, and unsustainable environment at last made them have no choice but migrate.

In many places, it has been typical for teachers of high school students (ages 14-18) to lecture or lead a discussion while the students listen and take notes for most of the school day. However, this is not an effective way to prepare students for careers in the modern workplace. A better way to do that is for teachers to spend most of the school day on student-led discussions (in which students frequently present their ideas and discuss them with the class) and project-based activities (in which students do their own research and work together while the teacher is available to help them as needed). Do you agree or disagree with the following view?

Task 1
Some people believe old people should not take risks and participate in adventurous/challenging events as the young people. Do you agree or disagree? Explain why.
It's better for older people to take risks and explore new things than younger people.

Task 2
About Campus life:  a student's letter proposing establishing a wilderness club.
Task 3
About Economics: Option Value. Researchers develop new alternate medicine instead of that made from a tropical plant, which helps conserve and protect tropical forests from chopping down.

Task 4
About Botany: two ways for plants to resist fungus
1. external barries: physical layers with chemical defense
2. have the infected tissues or parts die and seperate from bodies.

High school teachers (teachers of students ages 14-18) spend most of class time lecturing (speaking) while the students listen and take notes. Other high school teachers spend most of class time on discussion and projects that students are highly involved in and exchange their ideas. Which of these two approaches do you think is more effective for student learning and why?

观点:discussion and projects

(1)teacher的备课压力减轻pressure of preparing lessons will be relieved,要做的更偏向于设置开放性的主观题让学生们参与

3.让步
对方观点:lecturing and taking notes更好

Conversation:

Lecture 2:
