I owe this goodresult to good preparation, my dear teacher Edward’s adviceand dedicated instructions as well as a bit of luck.I was the last one of thetotal 2 days‘ oral test, so I had one day and ahalf to prepare. I stayed in front of the computer ,writing and murmuringanswers to the questions that previous candidates posted. So almost all thequestions the examinar asked had been prepared by me。
She was tired, after listening to poor english for a long time , and spoke very fast and interrupted almost every response i gave. Ispoke fast, too, because I haveprepared for all the answers. So it seems the whole test only took 10 minutes .Howeverit does seem pretty short after i have recalled all the course of theconversation.
What’s yourname? My full name is LI FEI . If you don’t mind, you can also call me Lynn。
(This is a bit like reciting, and I rushed tosay the second sentence, because she was going tointerrupt me when I had just finished the first sentence。)
Are you astudent or are you working? I am working as a teacher.(as a teacher was almost stopped by her interruption, but she seemed impressed when hearing it.)
Anyinteresting people you met in your work? Oh, yes. The students are interesting, youngpeople, energetic and creative. I enjoy interactingwith them and learn a lot from them. Besides, becausemy school is expanding, we have new teachers comingevery year from all over the country, including foreignteachers(er,foreign teachersare not from the country). I like to meet new peopleand exchange ideas and know different lives and cultures. Now let’s talk aboutphotographs. Do Chinese people like to take photographs? Yes, as more and more people are goingtraveling, they take pictures of places they visit andkeep them for memory(interrupted) What kind of photographs do you like? Youmean photos taken by professional photographers?
Yes. Well, I like photographs of people。 I like toread the expression, (er。。and)the emotion of the people on the picture and know their lives。(interrupted)
Doyou prefer to buy picture postcardsortake photos? Sorry?
Do you like tobuy picture postcardsortake photos? Hm?(confused by the picture and photos, think itmeans the difference between picture and photos)
Do you preferto buy picture postcards ortake photos when you visit places? Oh, I see, one isto buy and the other is to take by myself?
Yes。 I do both.(er.forgot to say thank you) When I am traveling, and I see beautifulscenery, I take photos. However, when I see pictures taken by professional photographers on sale inthe shops, I find mine are not as good as them, I will buy some and post them to my friends(interrupted)
Let’stalk about food. Who cook in your family? I am considered tobe lucky, because I live with my parents-in-law. And in China, it’s common that older generation, retiredpeople prepare food for the family.(interrupted) Do you think its important for the family to eat together? Oh, yes, I do.Eating together provide an opportunity for the family members to exchange ideasand share each others experience. It helps to strengthen the relationshipbetween family members and keep the family close(interrupted) What kind of food is popular in your culture? Ah… My culture is a diverse one. We have different food indifferent places, different provinces. For example, I am Cantonese, I like Cantonese food. However, people from Hunan think Cantonese food is tasteless. They preferHunan food, spicy food. So it is difficult to chooseone particular food that is popular in the whole country.
Now I will giveyou a topic. You will talk about it for one to two minutes。 So don’t worry if I stop you。 You will haveone minute to prepare for it。 You can make notes if youlike。 Here is the card。 Thanks。 Recently I saw a movie on line。 Its calledSaving face, directed by a Chinese-American director called 。Alex Wu, cast by(er。 Casting)a group of Chinese-American actors andactresses, including one of my favorite actresses JoanChen, who immigrated to the United States in the 1980s。 That mean when I was a little kid, I sawmovies of hers。 This movie is about a Chinese motherand an American daughter, who has grown up with hergrandparents in the United States。 It shows how themother gets along with her daughter, how to cope withher new American life and how she handles her own emotional problems。 At the end of the movie, the mother and thedaughter finally understand each other。 The motheraccepted the fact that her daughter is lesbian。 And thedaughter also encourages her mother to accept a marriage with(to) a young manshe married a man who isalmost 20 years younger than her。 This movie shows。(interrupted) Do you want to s ee the movieagain? No, I dont think so, because I saw the movie on line, and I wasable to repeat it again and again。 I think I have knownthe movie enough and there is no need to。 Have you toldanybody about the film? Nooh yes, I talked about it to a friend of mine when we were chatting on lineWhat is the status of film making in your country? Oh, it is becoming increasingly important。There is a big market for it in the country and many companies are investing inthe film industry(interrupted)What is the status of actresses and actors in your country? Wellopinions vary。 Young people admiremovie stars, the glamour, trend, fashion。。They see them as heroes。 However, older people have negativeopinions towards them。 To them, many movie stars have problems。 Some of them have drugproblems, divorces。they dontlike them at all。(interrupted)How do movies influence people? The content, the content of a movie have influences on people。 For example, if a movie is about how peoplepersevere to succeed。 Young people may be inspired andmotivated to seek success after they see it。(interrupted) How do you see the educational value in films and that in reading? Well, you think when you read, so . However, when you see a movie, movies are full of plots, some are reallyexciting. You cant really think when you watch them. You might think after youwatch the movie, but not during watching it.So I thinkreading has more educational value than seeing films. How does seeing filmshelp with learning languages? Oh, it helps a lot in learning languages, because learning a language is a process of imitating…When students are seeinga film, he is imitating the expressions, the pronunciation and the vocaburary. Most important of all, they enjoy it! I use that a lot in my class…Isnt it a bit passive? Oh, yeah,it is a bit。 That’s why we dont do that oftenin ..ah serious class time。 We do that at weekends whenstudents are relaxing(interrupted)
I am sure ielts are all about preparation. I heard many english majorsfail this test。 And i am sure if yourpronuciation is good and have good preparation, you canpossibly get an 8。 Conversely, even you can speak great english but don‘t prepare enough and don‘t obey therules, there is a good chance you fail。
When i was doing the simulating test with Edward, he pointed out my weakness mercilessly. I gave him shortanswers all the time in the first part and spoke incoherently in the second.Interrupted by him in the two parts many times, istarted to use long sensentences and idomatic  words in the last part.Only until then was  he a bit satisfiedwith my performance. He said, your English has noproblem, your accent is excellent. However( we are not allowed to use but),if you donot follow my rules ,failure is doomed! i trust Edward, then i win ,hahahha
Looking back to the whole conversation, i guess the examinar went through the time quite comfortably. Shehas been working for almost 2 days, and was tootired to struggle a conversation with a candidate. She read from the paper andspoke extremely fast. I did the same and kept speaking at length. Although idid make her repeat one question 3 times, it didn‘taffect much。
One thing i worried after the exam is that she could clearly tell that ihave prepared. And some people say that will be bad. Now, you know there is never too much preparation for ielts.Just prepare, as long as you don’t recite looking atthe ceiling, it is fine.Trust me,tryst Edward’s IPNmaterials, you can make it!

When all things are considered, young adults of todaylive more satisfying lives than those of their parents, in my opinion.
  这句话当中的“when all things are considered”和“in my opinion“都显得多余。
Young adults of today live more satisfying lives thantheir parents.

Due to the fact that our grandparents were under anobligation to help
their parents, they did not have the options that young people have at
this point in time.
Because our grandparents were obligated to help theirparents, they did not have the options that young people have now.
The farm my grandfather grew up on was large in size.
The farm my grandfather grew up on was large.
My grandfather grew up on a large farm.
My grandfather has said over and over again that he hadto work on his parents' farm。
  这里的over and over again就可以改为repeatedly,显得更为简洁:
My grandfather has said repeatedly that he had to workon his parents' farm.
The situation that resulted in my grandfather's notbeing able to study
engineering was that his father needed help on the farm.
My grandfather couldn't study engineering because hisfather needed help on the farm.
There were 25 cows on the farm that my grandfather hadto milk every day. It was hard work for my grandfather.
My grandfather worked hard. He had to milk 25 cows onthe farm every day.
My grandfather worked hard milking 25 cows daily.
Dairy cows were raised on the farm, which waslocated100 kilometers
from the nearest university and was in an area that was remote.
The dairy farm was located in a remote area, 100kilometers to the nearest university.
In the fall, not only did the cows have to be milked, but also the hay was mowed and stacked by my grandfather's family.
In the fall, my grandfather's family not only milkedthe cow but also mowed and stacked the hay.
