大作文:讨论双方观点
Somepeople think that printed books are no longer needed in the digital era becauseall writing can be stored electronically. Others think that printed books willstill play an important role. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.
范文:
In thedigital age, there is a growing trend of people turning to computers anddigital devices as their primary source of information. With the convenienceand accessibility of the internet, many argue that printed books, magazines, and newspapers on paper are becoming obsolete. However, the question of whetherthey are entirely unnecessary in this digital era remains a matter of debate. In this essay, I will discuss the extent to which I agree with the assertionthat there is no longer a need for printed publications.
Onecompelling argument in favor of the idea that printed materials are no longeressential is the environmental perspective. The production of paper-based mediaconsumes vast amounts of resources, leading to deforestation and energyconsumption. In contrast, digital platforms significantly reduce paper wasteand have a lower carbon footprint. Furthermore, the portability of digitaldevices allows people to carry an entire library of books, magazines, andnewspapers in their pockets, making information more accessible andtravel-friendly.
On theother hand, one cannot overlook the enduring appeal and value of printedpublications. Printed books, for instance, offer a tactile and sensoryexperience that cannot be replicated by digital screens. The smell of fresh inkon paper, the feeling of pages turning, and the aesthetics of a well-designedbook contribute to the immersive pleasure of reading. Additionally, printedmaterials do not require electricity, making them accessible even in areas withlimited technological infrastructure, which is an important consideration insome parts of the world.
Moreover, printed publications can be more reliable in terms of preserving information.Digital files are vulnerable to loss or corruption due to hardware failures, software updates, or cyber threats. Printed materials, once published, remainrelatively stable and are not subject to digital vulnerabilities. Historically, they have served as vital sources of information for research, education, andcultural
preservation.
Inconclusion, while the digital age has undeniably transformed the way we accessinformation, the assertion that there is no need for printed books, magazines, and newspapers on paper is overly simplistic. Both digital and print formatshave their merits and should coexist to meet the diverse needs and preferencesof individuals. The challenge lies in finding a balance that respectsenvironmental concerns, ensures accessibility, and recognizes the uniquequalities of printed materials. Thus, in my view, printed publications are notentirely obsolete and still hold a valuable place in our information-richsociety.
