Debates on whether single-use plastic water bottles should be prohibited on a larger scale in more areas.
Reading
Pros:
1. to help preserve environment by reducing emssion of greenhouse gases and non-recyclable garbages.
2. to protect people's health from being harmed by toxic chemicals in plastic bottles escaping into water.
3. to save money by using alternative water sources, such as public water fountains.
Listening
Cons:
1. Plastic water bottles are irreplaceable for carbonated drinks and constitute only a small fraction of the whole amount used. so it helps little to ban the use of plastic water bottles.
2. Without bottled water easily available on the streets, people either drink at home or have other beverages that contain more sugar and calories, which is more harmful for health.
3. Plastic water bottles being banned in this city, people would turn to other cities buying bottled water for substituion, which would have the prices of other beverages rise here, an even more un-economical result on the whole.
