除了常说的主谓不一致,还有数的不一致、时态不一致及代词不一致等。
例子: The relationship between Ashiley and Suzan remain tense.
分析:本句主语是relationship 是单数第三人称,因而本句的remain应改为remains。本句是典型的主谓不一致。

这类错误是考生最常犯的。 最经常能够看到的状况就是名词作动词用,形容词副词动词混用,介词当动词用。
例: None can negative the importance of money.
分析: negative 为形容词,不能当做动词使用。
改: None can deny the importance of money.

悬垂修饰语指的是句首短语与后面句子的逻辑关系混乱不清。
例如:Hearing a number of entertaining stories, our visit was enjoyable.
分析:在该句中,句首的“hearing a number of entertaining stories”与句子的逻辑关系混乱不清。这样的放置使得主语不明确,如果与后句公用主语“our visit”,则语义不通。
改:Hearing a number of entertaining stories,we enjoyed our visit.
来看另一个例子: when only several years old, my mother took me to a dance class.
分析: 同样“when only several years old”也是悬垂修饰语
改:When I was only several years old, my mother took me to a dance class.

常犯错误4:句子不完整
在日常口语交流中,身体语言与语气都可以帮助交际双方理解彼此想表达的含义,尽管句子不完整,但仍可以被理解与接受。可是写作中,句子结构不完整,往往会模糊语义,不能清晰的向读者呈现真实意思。
例子:There are many ways to know a man. For example by his temper, his hobbies and so on.
分析:一个完整的句子包含明确的主谓宾。而本句后半部分“For example by his temper, his hobbies and so on.”是典型的不完整句子。对于这个句子可以附加在一个句子后面,用逗号隔开。
改:There are many ways to know a man, for example by his temper, his hobbies and so on.

常犯错误5: 指代不清
Mary was friendly to my sister because she wanted her to become her bridesmaid.
分析:整句话,指代不清,读完后,完全无法判断两位姑娘谁是伴娘。指示代词不恰当的使用会造成语义模糊。
改: Mary was friendly to my sister because she wanted my sister to become her bridesmaid.
